The short version
We collect the minimum information needed to deliver the course, communicate with you, and run the business. We don't sell your data. You can ask us to delete it any time.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Email address: when you sign up for the free lesson, purchase the course, or contact us
- Name (optional): if you provide it on the signup form or at checkout
- Payment information: processed by Stripe (or our payment provider). We do not store full card numbers on our servers
- Messages: the content of any emails or support requests you send us
Information collected automatically
- Usage data: pages visited, time on page, referring source. We use this to understand what's working and what isn't
- Device data: browser type, operating system, approximate location (city-level)
- Course progress: stored in your browser's localStorage, on your device only — we don't see this
How we use it
- To deliver the course and downloadable resources you purchased
- To send the free lesson and follow-up emails when you opt in
- To process payments and prevent fraud
- To respond to your questions and support requests
- To improve the course and the website
- To comply with legal obligations
Who we share with
We share data only with service providers we need to run the business:
- Stripe (payments)
- Clerk (user authentication and account management)
- Netlify (hosting)
- Email service provider (sending the welcome lesson and updates)
- Google Ads (conversion tracking and remarketing — see "Advertising and analytics" below)
We don't sell your personal data to third parties.
Cookies and tracking technologies
The site uses the following tracking technologies:
- Essential cookies — set by Clerk to maintain your sign-in session. Required for the site to function for paying members.
- localStorage — stores course progress on your device only; we don't see this.
- Google Ads cookies — set by the Google tag for conversion tracking and remarketing audiences (see below).
Advertising and analytics (Google Ads)
We use Google Ads (gtag.js, Google's advertising tag) to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns and build remarketing audiences. This means:
- When you visit the site, Google may set cookies (such as
_gcl_*, NID) that identify your browser to Google's ad systems.
- When you complete a purchase, we send a conversion event to Google so we can measure which ads brought paying customers.
- You may see ads from us on other sites if you've visited ours without purchasing ("remarketing").
You can opt out of Google's personalized advertising at adssettings.google.com, or install a browser ad blocker, which will block our tag from loading. Opting out does not affect your access to the course in any way.
For EU/UK visitors: this tracking is currently active on first visit. If you require Consent Mode handling under GDPR/UK GDPR before tracking begins, please email us — we are working on a consent banner.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Correct inaccurate data
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
- Export your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent for marketing emails (one-click unsubscribe in every email)
To exercise any of these, email ryanmelvin1200@gmail.com. We'll respond within 30 days.
Data retention
- Active customers: we keep your data while your access is active
- Email subscribers: until you unsubscribe
- Payment records: as long as required by tax and accounting law (typically 7 years)
Security
We use industry-standard security measures: HTTPS everywhere, payment processing through PCI-compliant providers, and minimal data collection by design. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what you share with us.
Children
The course is not directed to children under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
International transfers
Our service providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. By using the course, you consent to such transfers.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent changes. For significant changes, we'll notify you via email if we have one for you.
